Abstract

Ketersediaan sumber belajar digital yang belum merata serta kultur literasi akademik yang masih berkembang pada perguruan tinggi menjadikan artificial intelligence (AI) memiliki peran dalam proses penulisan akademik mahasiswa. Kondisi ini memunculkan persoalan terkait integritas ilmiah dan perlunya pengaturan institusional. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengeksplorasi bagaimana mahasiswa mengoptimalkan penggunaan ChatGPT untuk penulisan karya tulis ilmiah, dengan fokus pada intensitas penggunaan, strategi penerapan, serta persepsi mereka terhadap ChatGPT. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain metode campuran yang melibatkan 56 mahasiswa Program Studi Bahasa Indonesia dari empat Perguruan Tinggi di Maluku. Data penelitian terdiri atas data kuantitatif dan kualitatif yang diperoleh melalui survei kuesioner secara daring dan wawancara semiterstruktur. Temuan penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa intensitas penggunaan ChatGPT dapat meningkatkan kualitas karya tulis ilmiah melalui perbaikan tata bahasa, struktur kalimat, dan kejelasan argumentasi. Penggunaan ChatGPT oleh mahasiswa merupakan strategi untuk menemukan dan mengorganisir ide karya tulis ilmiah, pencarian serta validasi referensi. Namun, penggunaan ChatGPT juga menimbulkan tantangan serta persoalan etis yang berkaitan dengan keaslian karya ilmiah. Mahasiswa menyadari adanya risiko ketergantungan berlebihan pada AI berpotensi mengurangi kreativitas dan orisinalitas dalam penulisan ilmiah. Dengan demikian, pemanfaatan ChatGPT oleh mahasiswa berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan kualitas tulisan ilmiah mereka sekaligus menimbulkan tantangan etis dan risiko ketergantungan yang perlu disikapi dengan kesadaran kritis dan pengaturan dari institusional perguruan tinggi.
